London-Inspired Mechanical Layout

Built as both a wooden model kit and an operating track system, Marble Travel - London combines model assembly with post-build mechanical use. Once completed, a motor and gravity move the marbles through ramps, tunnels, and sections of the layout. The model can then run its marble circuit instead of functioning only as a static display.

Track Routes

Four-Path Marble Circuit

Four diversion paths send the marbles through different parts of the city layout rather than one fixed descent. The route passes landmark elements based on Big Ben, Tower Bridge, and the London Eye, with the wheel lifting marbles upward before they re-enter the track. This creates a continuous marble run circuit during powered operation.

Assembly Structure

431-Piece Interlocking Construction

This wooden construction kit uses 431 laser-cut pieces joined with mortise-and-tenon connections, allowing the structure to be assembled without glue. With a ★★★★☆ difficulty rating, this mechanical wooden puzzle is a hard build that takes about five hours to complete. Assembly combines structural sections, track components, and moving mechanical parts.

Touch Controls

LED Lighting and Operating Modes

LED lighting is integrated into the model, and the touch control manages the operating modes. The first click starts the mechanism, the second switches mode and stops marble movement, and a long press powers the model off. The lighting and motion controls are handled from the touch-sensitive control area on the base.

Marble Handling

Magnetic Ball Picker

The magnetic ball picker is stored at the subway entrance and can be removed when needed. Its magnetic tip picks up the metal marbles so they can be placed directly onto a chosen section of the track. It is designed specifically for retrieving and repositioning marbles within the finished track layout during operation.

Size and Power

Type-C Power and Model Dimensions

The finished DIY wooden model measures 225 × 155 × 235 mm. Power is supplied through a Type-C connection, and a Type-C power cable must be provided separately. Those two details matter before setup: allow enough room for the assembled model and have a compatible cable ready before testing the powered functions.
