This wooden construction kit has 183 pieces and takes about five hours to assemble. Follow the illustrated instructions to fit the plywood parts, shafts, and gears together. It's a demanding build, so allow time to check alignment as you go. The wooden joints fit together without glue.

Power Source

Hand-Crank Generator

Turn the side handle to drive the built-in generator and power the LED projection light. This mechanical wooden puzzle uses the same hand motion to move its gears and advance the film. It runs without batteries, and a steady cranking rhythm keeps the projected sequence moving evenly.

58-Frame Chaplin Film

The included film strip contains a short, 58-frame sequence from Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times in black and white. It measures 24 mm wide and 600 mm long and threads through the model's supply and take-up reels. The individual images remain visible along the exposed film path.

Manual focus comes from a lens housing that slides forward and backward. For viewing, place this DIY wooden model close to a plain white wall in a dark room. Hold the wooden housing when adjusting the lens to keep fingerprints off its surface and help preserve a clear image.
