Fishing Trawler in Motion

Lucky Trawler combines model building with a pendulum display. Once assembled, the trawler hangs above the base and starts swaying with a light push. Gravity keeps the movement going until it gradually stops, leaving a DIY wooden model that can be set in motion again whenever you want to see the balance system at work.

Balance Point

Counterweight Beneath the Trawler

Under the boat, the counterweight is part of the visual design rather than something hidden in the base. As the trawler swings, gravitational potential energy and kinetic energy alternate through the movement. No batteries are needed. The mechanical wooden puzzle eventually settles on its own instead of swinging continuously.

Assembly Scope

179 Pieces and Three Hours

The build contains 179 pieces and is listed at about three hours from start to finish. Each wooden part is numbered to correspond with the visual manual. The wooden construction kit carries a ★★☆☆☆ Easy rating, giving buyers a clear idea of both the time commitment and difficulty before assembly begins.

Fitted Joinery

Mortise-and-Tenon Construction

Plywood and metal are the listed materials for the model. ROKR also highlights mortise-and-tenon construction among its assembly details, so some of the build depends on fitted joints rather than simply stacking flat pieces. The finished wooden model kit combines those structural parts with the trawler, crane, and suspended catch.

Base Details

Map Base with Storage

Look below the swinging boat and the base has its own functions. A small drawer creates storage space, and a gear compass is included with the model. The upper surface uses a continental-map design. Storage, navigation-themed detailing, and the map motif continue the fishing-trawler theme down to the 3D wooden puzzle’s base.

Display Footprint

A 380 mm Vertical Format

Finished dimensions are 140 × 95 × 380 mm, so height is the measurement to notice first when planning where it will go. The narrow 140 × 95 mm footprint keeps the base compact, while the vertical stand lifts the boat well above it. This format suits display on a shelf, desk, or cabinet.
